Job Description

We are looking for: 

A Surveillance Officer who will be responsible for monitoring, observing, and reporting activities across company premises or operations to ensure safety, compliance, and security of assets, personnel, and information. This includes identifying suspicious activities, enforcing security protocols, and supporting investigations where required.

  • Knowledge of surveillance technology and basic troubleshooting skills. 

 

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Monitor CCTV and surveillance systems to detect and prevent theft, damage, or other security breaches. 
  • Conduct routine and random inspections of premises, warehouses, or restricted areas. 
  • Identify, record, and report suspicious or unusual behaviour and incidents promptly. 
  • Maintain accurate records of all surveillance observations, incidents, and actions taken. 
  • Ensure that all security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control) are functioning effectively; report faults immediately. 
  • Liaise with internal departments, management, and external security providers or law enforcement when necessary. 
  • Report equipment faults or downtime immediately to the IT or technical department for repair. 
  • Provide clear and factual reports supported by video evidence when required for disciplinary, legal, or insurance purposes. 
  • Track and monitor entry and exit of personnel, visitors, and vehicles through access control systems. 
  • Identify unauthorized access, unsafe behaviour, or policy violations and report it immediately. 
  • Assist in investigations, providing video footage, reports, and supporting evidence. 
  • Maintain confidentiality of all surveillance data and adhere to data protection policies. 
  • Support health, safety, and environmental compliance by observing unsafe acts or conditions and reporting them. 
  • Participate in regular training, briefings, and security drills to remain up to date with company procedures and security standards. 
  • Submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to management summarising incidents, system performance, and key security observations 
  • Maintain awareness of relevant legislation such as the POPI Act, PSIRA, and occupational health and safety laws 
  • Liaise with security guards and warehouse managers to maintain awareness of on-site activities and potential risks.

  • Matric  
  • Certificate or diploma in Security Management / Risk Management (preferred). 
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a surveillance or security control room environment. 
  • Experience operating CCTV systems and digital video recorders. 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., POPIA, OHSA, or Private Security Industry Regulation Act).
